Charity of Choice
We are looking for a local charity to partner with and support with fundraising events.
As you know submissions were open on our website during May and now it’s time for the public vote.
We have been overwhelmed by the number of applications we received and the team here at The Rock has been through every application.
After a great deal of thought we have selected the following charities to go forward in the public vote:
About the Charities
Secret Garden – Forest School
Secret Garden is operating across two settings in the North West, including at Hoyles Park.
The charity provides a safe, secure, wheelchair accessible provision for people with SEND, special educational needs and disabilities, people with social emotional and mental health difficulties and also providing your clubs, home educated sessions and so much more!
Secret Garden has helped many children and adults to feel that they belong and are valued. Given parents and carers the opportunity to have a safe space to come as a family aswell as a safe space their children can be left so that they can have some free time and respite.
It has allowed children to grow in confidence, build friendships and learn new skills whilst also being safe, outdoors and respecting nature.

Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary
Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, is one of the largest animal welfare charities in the North of England. For over 60 years Bleakholt has been rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals across the North West. Bleakholt operates entirely without any government funding. It costs over £1.6 million a year to run the sanctuary and our services are needed more than ever with the requests to help animals rapidly increasing. Rising costs of living have put huge pressures on pet owners and the number of owners needing help has greatly increased. Finding new loving homes for over 1000 animals each year, the Sanctuary is also home to Horses, Donkeys, Goats, Pigs and Chickens. Bleakholt provides a place where local communities can visit for free and learn about the work the charity does.
There is currently a huge problem in our area with stray and abandoned cats.
That’s why this year we’re launching Project Purrfect, a vital £300,000 cattery renovation to help reduce suffering and meet the rising demand for cat rescue and rehoming. In 2024 alone, we rehomed over 500 cats, despite this our waiting list for cats needing our help far outweighed the number we were able to accommodate.

Bury Hospice
Bury Hospice opened its doors in June 1991 and the charity has helped thousands of people through some of the most difficult times in their lives with specialist, compassionate and palliative end-of-life care. It costs us £4m to run our services with a 13% contribution from the NHS. The remainder is raised via our income generation streams which includes fundraising, retail and lottery.
At Bury Hospice our focus and vision is to ensure all patients and families in Bury receive compassionate and outstanding care during their palliative and end-of-life journey.

Liv’s Trust
Liv’s Trust CIO was set up in memory of Olivia Campbell Hardy who along with with 21 other beautiful souls were cruelly taken from us on 22nd May 2017 in the Manchester arena bombing.
Olivia was a talented ballroom and Latin dancer and singer who wanted to teach – this is her living legacy. It supports 25s and under with in Greater Manchester in education in music and dance. 95% of the charity’s income is spent on young people in the borough of Bury. We provide music, dance lessons, provide kit, and support young people in higher education.
